Get New Implant Teeth with Dr. Jana Gyurina

Dental implants are an excellent option for those seeking to replace one or more missing teeth or to affix a total arch replacement for those who’ve lost function in all of their natural teeth. In the past, removable bridges or dentures have been the only available remedy for missing teeth, but implants are a permanent, esthetic, and healthy option which contributes to the health of your jawbone. We recommend implants since they contribute to your life, health, and smile!

What are Dental Implants?

Implant tooth

A dental implant is an appliance used to replace the roots of teeth. The implant is surgically attached to the jaw bone and an artificial tooth is attached to the top of the implant, creating a natural-looking, undetectable replacement for the missing tooth.

Dental implants with artificial teeth are the closest thing to regrowing your natural teeth. They are strong, stable, durable, and virtually undetectable. By filling gaps left by missing teeth, implants can provide better chewing ability and head off jaw joint problems.

3D-Guided Implant Placement

implant

This imaging system allows our practice to generate an accurate 3D image of your jaw, mouth, and teeth with much more detail than traditional x-rays to measure bone density, which is essential for placing dental implants.

Special software is then used to create an extremely accurate and customized surgical guide to give our doctors details about your jaw, bite, and underlying structure for the most precise placement of your implant. Restoring your smile has never been easier or more predictable!

Fortunately, dentures can be attached to implants to help improve their fit and greatly increase chewing ability. As an added benefit, the implants prevent the steady bone loss caused by traditional dentures. Dentures attached to implants give support to the cheeks and lips creating a more youthful appearance.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Do you wear dentures or have a mouthful of missing or failing teeth? Traditional dentures are not attached to anything and simply rest on the gums. This means that the denture can get dislodged when chewing and often limits the realistic selection of food choices for the denture wearer.

Fortunately, dentures can be attached to implants to help improve their fit and greatly increase chewing ability. As an added benefit, the implants prevent the steady bone loss caused by traditional dentures. Dentures attached to implants give support to the cheeks and lips creating a more youthful appearance. Speaking, chewing, swallowing, and smiling are also improved due to the confidence that results from having the dentures firmly secured in the mouth.

3-Steps to Getting Your New Tooth

Getting an implant isn’t as long a process as you think or as expensive or cutting edge. Dental implants have been in use since the 1970s but the technology for placing them has steadily been improving with the advent of 3D-guided dental surgery.

Step 1: Consultation

The first step of your treatment process is to complete a consultation at Dr. Gyurina’s office. She’ll let you know what you should expect based on your situation and receive a comprehensive evaluation, which includes CBCT scans. In order to personalize your treatment, we’ll want to understand your smile goals. If you need any pre-implant procedures, we’ll determine if you’ll need a separate appointment or can have them completed on the day of your surgery. Dr. Gyurina will then prepare the custom surgical guide that will ensure the accuracy and precision of your implant placement.

Step 2: Surgery

There is nothing to worry about on the day of your dental implant surgery! We always first make sure you’re relaxed and comfortable. When you’re comfortable, we’ll surgically place a dental implant post into your jawbone using the custom guide Dr. Gyurina produced at your consultation appointment. The implant procedure will be over in about an hour. We’ll have a temporary dental crown ready to attach to your implant if its primary stability is efficient. That means you’ll have a complete smile when you leave on the day of your appointment so you can smile with confidence!

Step 3: Restoration

During the healing phase, the implant post will integrate with the natural bone, fusing in a place like a tooth root. Dr. Jana Gyurina will monitor the progress of your healing to ensure your dental implant will provide long-term support for your final tooth. When this phase is complete, you’ll return to our office to receive your final restoration. This dental crown will be made from strong porcelain or ceramic material and color-matched to your existing teeth. Our goal is to provide you with a permanent new tooth that can’t be distinguished from the rest!

Dental Implant Benefits

If you’re missing a tooth, a dental implant is the best choice to replace the root of the missing tooth and an abutment and crown affixed to that will make it look like your natural tooth was never missing, and the bone around that new implant will be restored improving your health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Read answers to questions our patients often ask about Esthetic dentistry.

How do dental implants work?

Dental implants consist of a titanium or zirconia screw that acts as a tooth root, an abutment (or connector), and a lifelike crown. Implants integrate with the bone to form a solid and stable connection over the course of about four to six months, after which Dr. Gyurina will permanently attach the appropriate implant restoration be it a single tooth or a full-arch replacement (fixed denture or bridge).

Why choose dental implants over other options?

Unlike other tooth replacement options, dental implants integrate with the jaw just like original tooth roots, helping to preserve jawbone health, and implants most closely replicate natural teeth in look, feel, and function. Implants offer permanent, comfortable, and extremely stable tooth replacement.

Is the implant process painful?

Dr. Jana Gyurina uses 3D imaging to plan the exact position of your dental implants and uses 3D-guided implant surgery to precisely insert implants into the jaw bone. These techniques create a minimally-invasive procedure, and of course, we’ll keep you comfortable and relaxed during your implant placement to ensure your total comfort during your visit.

What if I have bone loss in the jaw?

Even if you have jawbone loss, you can still be a candidate for dental implants! Dr. Gyurina is highly skilled at planning your surgery and preparing the jaw for implant success using advanced bone grafting techniques as required for the success of your implant placement.

How do I care for my dental implants?

Dental implants are cared for exactly like real teeth! Proper brushing, flossing, and regular professional dental cleanings are all that is necessary to maintain your dental implants.

Will my insurance cover the cost of implants?

Our wonderful staff will work with you to see if your insurance company will cover your cosmetic procedures. If for any reason it's not covered, we will let you know and will work with you to develop a financial plan if needed. Our patients often tell us that it's completely worth the investment of their time and money to improve the appearance of their smile.

Are there payment options available?

Yes, ask our office about financing options or payment plans. CareCredit® offers reasonable interest rates for patients who need to finance their dental care.
