As cold weather sets in and the holidays approach, we at Oak Park Dental want to wish you a happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season. We hope you will have the opportunity to celebrate your Thanksgiving by spending time with loved ones and, of course, enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
As you make your meal of turkey, pie, and stuffing, please remember to take good care of your teeth. We know you’ll enjoy all those sugary treats—but so will the bacteria in your mouth. Grandma’s cornbread recipe is also a recipe for excess bacterial growth and accelerated plaque production. Plaque which isn’t disrupted in time hardens and can only be removed by a trip to the dentist—so please remember to brush, no matter how busy you are! A post-Thanksgiving toothache is a terrible gift to yourself for the holidays. Also, be mindful of the effects of wine and coffee on your teeth, and drink them in moderation. Too much of either can cause dark stains on your dental enamel.
If you do find yourself in need of expert teeth cleaning, cavity treatment, or teeth whitening after the holidays, we’ll be here to help. Our office will be closed for Thanksgiving but reopens after the holiday. Call us during our scheduled office hours to make an appointment, or you can request an appointment online.
Happy Thanksgiving, and don’t forget to smile!
